Hole in One on The Par3 Fourth Hole

Congratulations to Harry Smyth with a Hole in One on the 4th hole on Saturday the 11th of April.

Harry hit a smooth 9 Iron 138 yards which landed RHS of the green and two bonces later rolled in to the hole.

Congratulations from all club members for getting a hole in one !

Captains Day on 14 June brought heavy rain but despite the conditions, Templepatrick Ladies and their visitors enjoyed a day of competitive golf and great craic.

Prize November 25 - What a Day !

This years Prize Day was well attended by the members and the course was in great condition.

After a full 18 holes of golf the presentations took place was a large majority of the members attending.

Well done to the two teams who won the scramble on the day.

Captains Day Fundraiser for the Men and Ladies of the Club

The Lady Captain Clare Guy and Men’s Captain Glenn Smart would like to say a big thankyou to all who took part in the fundraising around Captains Day.

The activities raised £5,400.00 and the money was slit between MacMillan Cancer Support & Dogs Trust Ballymena.

It was very very wet - but great fun

The men and Ladies Captains would like to give everyone a big thank you for coming out in the challenging conditions and celebrating a very fun day with them and all their helpers.

It is safe to say everyone had a great time on the day and the course played great under the sustained weather conditions.

Well done to Michael and his grounds team for presenting the course so well.

Also a thanks to the Hilton Staff Eamonn , Julian and catering staff for accommodating a very wet bunch of golfers on the day.

Saturday Club Competition on the 26th of April

Congratulations to Richard Cheung on getting a Hole in One on the 15th Hole on Saturday the 26th of April during the Carnavy Cup Competition.

Richard hit a smooth 7 iron on to the green and into the hole .... no need for a putter.

Richards playing partners all enjoyed a drink with him in the club house after.

Another great day for golfing at Templepatrick Golf Club before Christmas festivities started in full.

With a "shotgun" start on the 21st of December members played for the annual Christmas Vouchers on a fresh day.

The course was in fantastic condition and the members enjoyed the complementary drink & pie's before the start.

Well Done to Darryn Smith and Nisar Khan on winning the Members Doubles Competition.

It was a tightly fought final against runners up Tom Ferris and David Neville.

Men's Singles Winner 2024 - Runners Up

Well Do to David Patton on winning the Men's Singles Competition for 2024 .

David beat Trevor Kennedy in the final and the two runners up were Stephen McCord and Tim Sheehan.

As always the competition was well supported by members and everyone who joys the competition agrees, it is a great way to meet other members of the club.

All winning for 1st (£125.00), 2nd (£75), joint 3rd's (£30 each) will be posted to your two's accounts.

Prize Day 2024 is over and with that Winter League starts.

Prize day went well with a lot of members staying after the shot gun start to show their support for club competition winners.

Super Saturday - a great day out for all handicap levels

Super Saturday was another great day for Templepatrick golf club members with 37 prizes presented to various winners spread across all golfing levels.

The Hotel put on a great food selection, the staff all had a smile and the starter hut team of Julian & Eamonn kicked of the day with a "shotgun" start.

The course was in 1st class condition after all the hard work by Michael's team and the members enjoyed a great day.

The overall Winner of the men's section was James Gallagher.

The overall Winner of the women's section was Anna Jackson.

Both presented their prizes by Men's Captains Tennant Hunter and Ladies Captain Deirdre Morgan

Junior Captains Day - Sunday the 1st of September

Junior Captains Day took place on Sunday the 1st of September and by all accounts it was prizes and fun all day long.

Junior Captain Ben Watson (3rd from the right) enjoyed his big day and overviewed the 9 and 18 hole competitions.

Food and fizzy drinks followed after the putting competition.

Great Turnout for the Holt Shield Match - Sunday the 11th of August

Thanks to everyone for the great turn out of supporters for the Holt Shield Team on Sunday the 11 ^th of August.

Well done to the team for their valiant efforts getting to the quarter finals but the journey finished there. The Holt Shield team including caddies fought to the end in very tricky conditions.

2024 WHS™ Update - Unrounded Course Handicap™

2024 WHS Updates such as the below come into effect in Ireland on 1st April 2024.

A Course Handicap™ is the number of shots the golfer receives for the tee set they are going to play. Currently in Ireland, England and Wales this value is calculated to a decimal and then rounded for the golfer, which is the value they use when playing golf for handicap purposes (both general play and competition golf).

As of April 2024, for competition purposes, the calculated and “unrounded” Course Handicap will be carried through to the Playing Handicap™ calculation using machine precision*. For General Play scores, the golfer will continue to use the calculated and “rounded” Course Handicap. The Playing Handicap will be rounded to a whole number at the end of the calculation (example below).

*Machine precision – utilizing the computer software to ensure the accuracy of the calculations.

Example: A player playing from the White tees (C.R. 73.6, Slope 145, Par 72), with a Handicap Index® of 10.0.

Current Rounded Method

CH = (H.I.® x (SLOPE/113)) + (C.R.-PAR)

CH = (10.0 x (145/113)) + (73.6 – 72)

CH = (10.0 x 1.28318584) + (1.6)

CH = 12.8318584 + 1.6

CH = 14.4318584 (ROUNDED to 14)

With a Handicap allowance of 95% the Playing Handicap is:

PH = 14 * 0.95 = 13.3 (ROUNDED to 13)

Unrounded Method

CH = (H.I. x (SLOPE/113)) + (C.R.-PAR)

CH = (10.0 x (145/113)) + (73.6 – 72)

CH = (10.0 x 1.28318584) + (1.6)

CH = 12.8318584 + 1.6

CH = 14.4318584

With a Handicap allowance of 95% the Playing Handicap is:

PH = 14.4318584 * 0.95

PH = 13.71026549 = ROUNDED to 14

The difference in the Playing Handicap is 1 shot.

On Tuesday 27th February @ 7.30pm Hilton Templepatrick Golf Club will host a Golf Ireland Rules evening presented by Golf Ireland's Rules guru Derek Ervine.

All members are welcome and encouraged to attend as this is your opportunity to ask those difficult questions which arise when playing competition golf, inter club golf or playing for £1 on a Saturday/Wednesday.

Derek will shed light on points such as this and answer queries from members. If you have any particular circumstances you wish to query, it would be appreciated if you could forward details to secretary@templepatrickgolfclub.com in advance of the evening.

Turkey Shoot and Prize Day - Great Turn out with Punch & Pie's to start the day !

Saturday the 16th of December was a Shotgun start for the Christmas Turkey and Year end Prize Presentations.

The day started off well with Punch and Mince pie's supplied by Eamon Logue and team backed up by a very well presented Golf Course in fantastic condition.

Food and Presentations then took place after 18 holes golf which again was very enjoyable and a great way to show the members appreciation to all the winners during the year. Photographs of some of the winners are in the Gallery.

Well done to everyone for making the day great from the Captain, the committee, the green keeping team and the Hilton Bar and Food Staff.

Northern Ireland Hospice Cheque Presentation

This years Presidents day was a fundraiser for the Northern Ireland Hospice.

The day was an excellent golfing occasion, shotgun start, that was well attended by all Golf Club members. This year both Frank and Margaret had agreed on a fundraiser for a great cause and with support from Eamonn Logue and his team they certainly smashed it with a great cheque for NIH.

Well done all involved !

Sunday the 19th of November -Wet Day on the Course but the 19th Hole is always Open

Great Food at the Dormy Bar and the Staff understand a Golfers Needs !

Sunday was a wet day for 18 holes but the safe fall back is always The Dormy Bar, good food, good drink and very helpful staff.

After 18 holes there is always a bit of craic, in The Dormy.

For those regular visitors the picture above is from the 16th Tee box looking across the 15th fairway (Par 3) on to the fair way of the dog leg 14th. The on-going tree management is really cleaning up the course and providing some amazing views. Well done the Green Keepers !

8th hole Tee Complex Work

The members at Templepatrick Golf Club enjoyed another fantastic day of golf at the Kingfisher course in bright sunshine in November.

The planned restructuring of the Tee Complex on the 8th hole made no difference to the members enjoyment on the course that day (normal Tee box used) and they will reap the benefits of the work during the summer months.

Sunday was wet but the Course was Still Open for 18th Holes of Golf

What a view from the 9th hole looking back over the pond down the 18th fairway on a wet Sunday morning.

The 9th Green in great condition with the newly upgraded bunkers all playable, even after the floods.

The on-going tree work by the Green Keeping staff opening up the course to make it easier to navigate and find a ball.

Great to playing golf in the winter on a course that can take this wet weather.

Another great golfing day at the Kingfisher Golf Course in Templepatrick.

Saturday the 11th, 18 holes open, tee boxes in great condition and the greens are in outstanding order.

Templepatrick Golf Club members enjoyed the days thanks to all the hard work by the green keeper staff during the year.
